Transgender Sports – Why Aren’t the Men Speaking Out for the Truth?

Genesis 12:13 “Say you are my sister, that it might go well with me… that I may live because of you.”

“This is heartbreaking, maddening, and really difficult to watch. I keep thinking I’m going to wake up and be relieved that this was all just a ridiculous, comical, nonsensical dream (#IStandwithRileyGaines).”

“This would take away so many opportunities for biological women and girls in sports. It is a shame in 2023 we must fight for the integrity of Title IX and the reason for it in the first place (#savewomenssports).”

Two of ESPN’s top women sports personalities, Samantha Ponder and Sage Steele, defended Olympic swimmer Riley Gaines when biological male swimmer Lia Thomas was allowed to compete against her at the national championships. Gaines was the first to confront the NCAA and the Biden administration: “Are you really trying to say Lia Thomas would have won a national title against men? Does it not break your heart to see women lose opportunities? Biden’s bill denies science, truth, and common sense.”

Gaines told Fox News “Women with influential platforms are beginning to speak out to the injustice of men competing against women. Both Sage and Samantha have a lot to lose by using their voice yet chose to anyways. That is what courage is. I am so honored to be able to lean on them as we continue forward with advocating for sex-protected sporting categories.”

We know intuitively that men should not be competing against women in sports. Yet our leftist, secular culture, supported by President Biden, is promoting just that. Women are starting to speak out. But the big question is: where are the prominent male athletes and politicians? These men have daughters who are or will be entering into sports. Why are none of these men speaking out? Where is their courage?

It is not that men do not know the truth. The issue is they do not TRUST the truth. Top male personalities at ESPN fear losing their big paychecks. To stand for what they know is true means confronting ESPN.

You may feel outraged towards men not speaking out for women’s sports, but this is human nature. This is what we all as sinners do. We place a premium on self-preservation and the fear of men over truth.

This is why the Bible is so crucial to understanding truth – it instructs us on our fearfulness when we fear men over fearing God. The story of Abraham lying to Pharoah about Sarah being his wife is a perfect example. He fears Pharoah might kill him, even though God just promised to make him a great nation:

“There was a severe famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to sojourn there. When he was close to entering Egypt, he said to Sarah his wife, ‘I know that you are a woman of beautiful countenance. When the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife,’ and they will kill me, but they will let you live.

Please say you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that I may live because of you.

When Abram entered Egypt, the Egyptians saw that Sarah was beautiful. The princes of Pharoah commended her to Pharoah. Sarah was taken to Pharoah’s house, and he treated Abram well for her sake.

But the Lord plagued Pharoah and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife. Pharoah called Abram and said, ‘What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife?

Why did you say, ‘She is my sister?’ I might have taken her as my wife. Take your wife and go your way.’ Pharoah commanded his men to send him away with his wife and all he had.” (Genesis 12:10-20).

Why did Abraham lie? Just like today with transgender men in women’s sports, he put self-preservation and the fear of men above truth and the fear of God. He, like many of us, lacks courage. We do not trust the truth. We think it is better to try to work things out ourselves than trust God’s Word and speak truth. If you disagree, here just a few examples of how we do this in everyday life:

1) I exaggerate things, so others admire me. I call it “stretching the truth.” God calls it lying to people.

2) I live beyond my means, so others respect me. I call it “living the dream.” God calls it lying to myself.

3) I go with the flow so others will not cancel me. I call it “making a living.” God calls it living a lie.

The good news is that God understands our weakness. That is why He sent Jesus Christ. Stand on truth because then you are pleasing God, the only One who ultimately matters in life.
