Antisemitism at American Universities: The Cowardice of The Morally Bankrupt Left

Proverbs 28:1  “The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.”

“We, the undersigned student organizations, hold Israel entirely responsible for all unfolding violence. The Apartheid regime is the only one to blame. Israeli violence has structured every aspect of Palestinian existence for 75 years. Palestinians have been forced to live in a state of death, both slow and sudden.”

This statement was issued last Saturday by 31 Harvard student groups supporting Hamas’s actions on October 7 – their savage murder of nearly 1,000 innocent Israeli elderly, women, and children and the kidnapping and torture of over 200 more civilians. These are our morally bankrupt future American leaders.

But something happened after these groups posted their “bold declaration of their convictions of the Palestinian struggle.” These 31 Harvard student groups who signed Sunday’s statement removed their names from the letter. An updated version of the letter was published on Google Docs stating the following:

“This statement was co-authored by a coalition of Palestine solidarity groups at Harvard. For student safety, the names of all original signing organizations have been concealed at this time.” Wait a minute – aren’t they committed to their cause? Why are these “freedom fighters” suddenly hiding in the shadows?

Three days after publishing their “Statement of Solidarity”, CEO Bill Ackman of Pershing Square Capital Management released this statement: “I have been asked by a number of CEOs if Harvard would release a list of the members of each of the organizations that have issued the letter assigning sole responsibility for Hamas’ heinous acts to Israel, so as to ensure that none of us inadvertently hire any of their members.”

These students should not be able to hide behind a corporate shield when issuing statements supporting terrorism.”  Turns out these “freedom fighters” are capitalists who will soon graduate and need a job.

Perhaps these Harvard groups also saw what happened on Tuesday when New York University’s Student Bar Association President Ryna Workman wrote “I want to express my unwavering and absolute solidarity with Palestinians… Israel bears full responsibility for this tremendous loss of life. This regime of state-sanctioned violence created the conditions that made resistance necessary.”

Within hours after her statement, the law firm of Winston & Strawn released its own statement: “The “inflammatory comments regarding Hamas’ recent terrorist attack have led the Firm to rescind the law student’s offer of employment.” No job for Workman. New York University then released a statement: “Acts of terrorism are immoral. The indiscriminate killing of civilians and hostage-taking, including children and the elderly, is reprehensible. Blaming victims of terrorism for their own deaths is wrong.”

How did we get here, where youngsters in their early 20’s have lost their moral compass, to the point of not being able to tell the difference between barbaric murder of innocents and a nation the size of Rhode Island defending their right to survive? It is their academic leadership on campus. These children are being taught what to think, not how to think. A basic study in history would show Israel, not Hamas, wants peace.

Next week, we will dig deep into the leading example of student brainwashing – the organization “Students for Justice in Palestine”, a front group for antisemitism that began in 2001 at the University of CA Berkeley and now has student chapters on nearly 200 campuses. Not only has this blatant anti-Israel racism gone unstopped, but it has also been allowed to flourish. And it is us, the parents, who are sending our children to these schools and paying them to indoctrinate our young, impressionable children!

So, it is no surprise that these children fold like laundry the moment they are confronted with their moral nonsense. They, just like their university professors who mentor them, are cowards. As King Solomon tells us in this week’s verse, “The wicked are cowards who flee when no one is pursuing.” No one is pursuing those 31 Harvard groups. But somehow, they now need to hide their identities because they feel “unsafe”?

Jesus explains this behavior in John 3:20: “Everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.” These kids had their evil, immoral character exposed to the light of truth by their hopeful future employers – and they ran for cover into the darkness when they discovered to their horror that people with a moral compass condemn their ill-place hatred of Jews.

As the events in Israel unfold, we will see more cowardly evil from our universities – the ones we fund.
