The Secret to University Antisemitism: Hatred of God

Deuteronomy 14:2  “You are a holy people to the Lord your God. The Lord has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all peoples on the face of the earth.”

“’I just noticed your ring.’ To Maya Satnick, it had seemed like a compliment. As the first-year student walked across the campus of San Diego State University, another student, a stranger, approached her. Her ring bore a Star of David, a symbol of her Jewish faith. But the moment quickly turned menacing.

A group of students surrounded her. ‘You don’t belong here!’ they yelled, taunting her with Jewish racial slurs. She had never experienced antisemitism personally. ‘From then on, I took off my ring and hid the fact that I was Jewish.’” This is taken from Douglas Belkin’s Wall Street Journal article in December 2022.

Then we have Philip Klein’s National Review article on October 24, 2023: “When asked, ‘Do you think the attacks on Jews were genocidal in nature or not genocidal?’, 62% of respondents aged 18 to 24 said yes.

However, when asked, ‘Do you think the Hamas killing of 1200 Israeli civilians in Israel can be justified by the grievances of Palestinians or is it not justified?’, 51% said the attacks were justified.

There are two ways to interpret this finding. One is to think there are millions of Americans who are okay with genocide against the Jews. Another explanation is that there are millions of people who don’t know what “genocidal” means. Or, as Sonny Corleone put it, ‘Did you go to college to get stupid?’”

Antisemitism – the hatred of Jews – has skyrocketed among young adults at universities like San Diego State since the terrorist group Hamas massacred Jewish civilians in Israel on October 7.

Why would so many university students – just 18-24 years old – endorse Hamas’s murdering of innocent women and children and attack Jews like Maya Satnick on campus? These are young, impressionable children. Who taught them to be this stupid and uninformed? I doubt it was their former church pastors.

Since the early 2000’s, America’s college campuses fund over 220 radical antisemitic “clubs” that not only meet on-campus but openly protest against Jews and Israel. Many are promoted by college professors. Here are the top 3 most active on-campus group that work together to actively promote Israel’s destruction.

#1: SJP = Students for Justice in Palestine: Founded at UC Berkeley in 2001, it now has at least 180 chapters across the country. SJP released this statement in 2018: “Zionism (Israel’s existence as a nation state in their historic and biblical homeland) aims to destroy Palestinian existence and culture. Zionism is ethnic cleansing, destruction, apartheid, and death. Zionism is a human ideology to be destroyed.”

#2: JVP = Jewish Voice for Peace: anti-Israel activist group with 40 chapters on US campuses and 140,000 members worldwide: “Zionism stands as a settler-colonial movement, establishing an apartheid state where Jews have more rights than others. Our own history teaches us how dangerous this can be.”

#3: PYM = Palestinian Youth Movement: Palestinian activist group with 4 campus chapters that partner with SJP and JVP: “We recognize the poverty, dictatorship and violence in Arab countries is directly an outcome of Zionism. Our conviction in our pending triumph as Palestinians is the overthrow of Zionism.”

You can now see why all across our university campuses there are student protests endorsing Hamas.

How can there be 220+ antisemitic groups like these at our universities (I call them “our universities” because guess who is funding them)? Well, there is one thing uniting these groups – none of them are Christian. None claim Jesus Christ as Lord. Across our universities, Christians like Michael Knowles are labeled as promoting hate speech and racism. But it is good to welcome Hamas as “freedom fighters”?

There is a greater unifying force among these campus groups that has existed throughout history. The world hates the Jews because the world hates God. This week’s verse says the Jews are God’s chosen people through whom He gave the world His Bible, His Law, and His moral standards. He then gave us His only Son, Jesus Christ, in a Jewish body to provide salvation from our sin. But there is opposition.

Throughout history, Satan has tried to exterminate the Jews (just study the Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Egyptians, Amalekites, Nazis, and now Hamas). Satan failed every time, and he will fail with Hamas. Because there is one true God, and He has a Son Jesus Christ, and they are pro-Israel.
