Illegal Immigration and Tribalism: Why America will no longer be a Nation of Citizens

Leviticus 24:22 “Have the same law for the foreigner and the native-born. I am the LORD your God.”

What is “Tribalism”? Simply put, “exalting the tribe above any other group; strong ‘in-group’ loyalty.” OK, so what is a “Tribe”? Merriam Webster dictionary defines a tribe as “A social group composed chiefly of numerous families, clans, or generations having a shared ancestry and language.”

What is a “Citizen”? Again, Merriam Webster: “A native or naturalized person owing allegiance to a government and entitled to protection by it.” “Native” means inhabited that land before the arrival of colonists. “Naturalized” means a foreigner (opposite of native) who is admitted as a citizen to that country.

We defined the terms tribalism, tribe, citizen, native, and foreigner. Now, we are ready for “immigrant.” Merriam Webster says, “a foreigner who comes to a new country to take up permanent residence.” Putting our terms together, “legal immigration” is the process of a foreigner becoming a naturalized citizen.

The $64,000 question is this: Does America have a legal process for a foreigner to become a naturalized citizen, and if so, does this legal process eliminate tribalism? The answer is yes and yes.

America’s legal process is called the Code of Federal Regulations Section 337.1 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). Each foreigner swears an oath of allegiance to the United States, pledging to no longer living according to their “tribal laws” of their original country but live by the laws of the United States.

This happens when legal immigration is followed. Since Joe Biden became President on January 20, 2021, this law is not followed. To date, there have been at least 2,641,415 illegal immigrants caught (nevermind those the Border Patrol has missed). That equates to at least 880,472 illegals per year for the past 3 years.

Illegal immigrants are not subjected to CFR Section 337.1. They do not swear any allegiance to America. They come into our country with loyalty to the tribe from which they came. That means since Biden, we have been welcoming into our country – across our open borders – anyone from any tribe to settle in our country without the expectation to follow our Constitution or legal system. This is insanity on display.

Victor Davis Hanson, military historian and Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, was interviewed this week by Hannah Gal of ‘The Times of Israel’ about the illegal immigration crisis. Here are his thoughts.

HG: “Given the number of unassimilated Muslims living in Europe, does it really matter that the October 7 massacres have awakened the West? As pointed out by Dr Mordechai Kedar – Western values contradict these of Islam, so for Muslims, a full-on citizenship within a Western state is not a possibility.”

VDH: “If Muslim immigrants to the West pull back from tribalism and instead integrate and assimilate within the country they choose, the melting pot will eventually work only if today’s illegal immigration is halted.”

Hanson is echoing the meaning behind this week’s verse: “Have the same law for the foreigner and the native-born. I am the LORD your God.” Any foreigner desiring to immigrate to a new country must follow the legal process and swear an oath of allegiance to that country. America’s CFR 337.1 is biblical.

God explains how much He loves the foreigner living in and among Israel when that foreigner decides to follow the laws He established for Israel: “When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.” (Leviticus 19:33-34). Legal immigration is biblical.

Hanson goes on to explain how illegal immigration leads to tribalism and the destruction of citizenship: “Different immigrant groups are different in culture, history, religion, and work ethics. The attitude of Western hosts should be no tolerance for tribal chauvinism and separatism. The rule instead should be ‘anyone of any religion, race, or national origin who chooses to come legally to America must learn the language, be self-supporting, integrate, and accept the traditions and customs of the host.’

Any immigrants who openly break US law will either fail to enter the country or have their trial residences revoked. I do not know any Western leader – except Biden and the Obamas – who still advocates open borders and tribal and religious chauvinism in immigrant communities.”

If we do not return to our biblical roots of CFR 337.1, one day soon we will no longer be the United States.
