Romans 6:14 “Sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”
Columbia University in NYC is the 5th oldest university in the United States, with a heritage similar to Harvard University – teaching students truth based on the Bible to equip them for service to our country.
Following the American Revolution in 1784 – 240 years ago – Columbia’s board of trustees was headed by former student John Jay, America’s first Supreme Court Chief Justice, who emphasized biblical instruction: “The Bible is the best of all books. It is the word of God and teaches us the way to be happy in this world and in the next. Continue therefore to read it and to regulate your life by its precepts.”
240 years later, as we watch Columbia student protests in support of Hamas killing of 1,200 Israeli civilians as justified by the grievances of Palestinians, what type of education is now on Columbia’s campus, that they would indoctrinate our children with such sinful lies that have replaced biblical instruction?
There are now over 220 chapters of SJP – Students for Justice in Palestine – on our college campuses across America, each with its own university professor to mentor them. Their motto? “Zionism (Israel’s existence as a nation state in their historic and biblical homeland) aims to destroy Palestinian existence and culture. Zionism is ethnic cleansing, destruction, apartheid, and death. Zionism is to be destroyed.”
The real question is how did young, promising minds become so infected with lies and ultimately yield to their carnal nature to promote the genocide of Jews? This is a spiritual problem. We have replaced teaching biblical truths to our young students – our future leaders – with the Satanic lies of this age.
As we continue in chapter 4 of Watchman Nee’s book “The Normal Christian Life,” here are 10 more truths on trusting in God’s facts rather than Satan’s lies. Our young adults desperately need these truths.
Truth #15 = As soon as I accept my death with Christ as a fact, Satan will demonstrate convincingly by the evidence of my day-to-day experience that I am not dead at all but very much alive. So, I must choose. Will I believe Satan’s lies or God’s truth? Am I going to be governed by appearances or by what God says?
Truth #16 = All temptation is looking within – taking my eyes off Christ and using my senses to discover the truth. But if I refuse to accept anything contradicting God’s Word and maintain my faith in Christ, Satan’s lies dissolve and my experience tallies with God’s Word.
Truth #17 = John 15:4 “Abide in Me, and I in you.” The Bible does not instruct me to get into Christ, for I am there. I am told to stay where I have been placed. God put me in Christ. I am told to abide in Him.
Truth #18 = The Divine Order: “Abide in Me, and I in you.” I do not try to produce fruit. My business is to look to Him. As I do, He works to fulfill His Word in me.
Truth #19 = The Way of Deliverance: God says I must “abide” in Christ because it opens the way for God to take a hand in my life and to work the thing out in me. It allows for the operation of His superior power – the power of the resurrection (Romans 6:4,9-10). These facts of Christ become the facts of my daily life.
Truth #20 = “Abide in Me.” Look at Christ to see myself in Him. Abide in Him. Rest in the fact that God has put me in His Son and live in the expectation that He will complete His work in me. It is for Him to make good His glorious promise that “sin shall not have dominion over me” – Romans 6:14.
Truth #21 = The Bible tells me that I was crucified “with Him” (Romans 6:6), that I was quickened, raised and set by God “in Him” (Ephesians 2:5), and that I am complete “in Him” (Colossians 2:10). It is not just something to be affected in me. It is something that has already been affected, in association with Him.
Truth #22 = What God has done in His gracious purpose is to include me in Christ. In dealing with Christ, God has dealt with the Christian. In dealing with the Head, He has dealt with all the members. What I call “my” experience is only my entering into His history and His experience.
Truth #23 = Even eternal life is not given to me. Eternal life is in the Son, and “he who has the Son has life.” God has done all in His Son, and He has included me in Him. I am incorporated into Christ.
Truth #24 = Romans 6:4,11 = Death of Self, Alive to God: I often go to the wrong place to find the death of me. It is in Christ. When I look to the Lord, God sees to it that both my death and “newness of life” is mine.
