Galatians 5:1 “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
“When we look at black history, we know that so much of the fight has been about equality. But now we are talking more rightly about equity. We must be clear that we want everyone to get an equal amount. But not everyone starts out in the same place. So, if the goal is about equality, the goal has to be that everyone ends up at the same place. Since we did not start at the same place, some folks might need more. That means equitable distribution.” This is the DNC Presidential candidate Kamala Harris, trying to explain to us the difference – or similarity (hard to tell) – between equality and equity.
“During these Paris Olympics, one of the great things about the United States and France is we both have equality as a foundation in our country’s constitutions.” That is NBC broadcasters trying to explain to the world that France and America are very similar in their founding and governmental policies.
Speaking at Minneapolis’ Orchestra Hall, Dennis Prager explained the difference between the American versus the French Revolution: “The American Revolution of 1776 emphasized liberty. The French Revolution of 1789, just 13 years later, emphasized equality. The French Revolution said Liberty, Fraternity, Equality. The American Revolution said Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”
Our Declaration of Independence and Constitution reveal a major difference between the American and French Revolutions. The American Revolution emphasized that we are all equal before God and the law since God is our Creator to whom we all stand accountable. But that’s where American equality ends.
During the French Revolution, the New Republic cancelled the 7-day week because the 7th day was devoted to God – the day of worship and rest – Sunday. Remember your Bible: God created the 7-day week in Genesis, being established by God in the very beginning. Genesis chapter 1 describes the very first week. The 7-day week was ordained by God from the beginning. A “week” is, by definition, 7-days long.
At the French Revolution, France turned to atheism. They instituted a 10-day week. They cancelled Christmas, replacing it with Isaac Newton’s birthday. They see themselves as godless socialists.
This leads to the confusion during the Paris Olympics from NBC, with their equating France’s definition of equality with America’s. What France means is exactly what Kamala Harris is now promoting at the DNC for the future of America if she becomes president. France means “equality of result,” that all people should be equal in their standard of living. Atheist, socialist France, and the Democratic Party mean “equity.”
Equity means the end of freedom. You cannot have equity and freedom together. In a free society, your work ethic, skill, and luck determine your future. But in France – and today’s Democratic Party – for everyone to make the same living requires government force it on you. That is slavery to the government.
The America Revolution fought for individual freedom. The French Revolution fought for equality, that everyone is equal and deserves equal rights and opportunities. So, everyone gets the same salary, the same benefits and so on. Dennis Prager asks “Why would anyone prefer equality to freedom? I just wanted to be free to make my own life. That is the American Revolution, which centered on 3 things: 1) I take care of me, 2) I take care of my family, 3) I take care of my community. The State does not have to take care of anyone because individual citizens will. The French Revolution taught said the State takes care of you.”
This is why the French Revolution was godless. To promote equality of result, you must reject biblical wisdom and the Author of that wisdom: Jesus Christ. As Galatians 5:1 explains, true freedom is in Christ – being responsible to Him – and not returning to the yoke of slavery under the Mosaic law: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
But taking responsibility for yourself and others goes against human nature. It is our nature to want to be taken care of, not to be responsible for ourselves. But this is what freedom means. This is what makes America exceptional: accountability. This idea of freedom is what the Democratic Party wants to destroy.
For freedom to thrive, we must never allow equity. We, not the government, must take responsibility for our individual lives, our families, and our communities, just as the Bible and Jesus Christ command.
