Fact Checking Harris & Walz: Babies can be Aborted after the 9th Month

Proverbs 6:16-19  “There are 6 things that the Lord hates, 7 that are an abomination to Him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.”

“They have abortion in the 9th month. They are radical. The Democrats are radical in that. And her Vice President pick (Walz) says abortion in the 9th month is absolutely fine. Walz also says execution after birth – no longer abortion because the baby is born – is OK. That is not OK with me.”

These were the words of Donald Trump in the September 10th Presidential debate with Kamala Harris. How did Harris respond? “Understand, if Donald Trump were to be re-elected, he will sign a national abortion ban.” Trump’s response? “It is a lie. I am not signing a ban. There is no reason to sign a ban because we have gotten what everybody wanted, by leaving it up to the states to make their own abortion laws.”

When Trump stated that Harris and Walz would support abortion up to 9 months, Harris said “Nowhere in America is a woman carrying a pregnancy to term and asking for an abortion – that is not happening.” This is Harris’s second lie. Not only has Trump never claimed to implement a national abortion ban, but there are now at least 3 states where a baby can be aborted up to, and after, birth. Here they are.

In May 2023, as Governor of Minnesota, Walz signed into law a change to the 1976 law that required doctors in Minnesota to try to save the life of a baby born alive after an attempted abortion.

The 1976 law required doctors to use “all reasonable measures consistent with good medical practice” to “preserve the life and health of the born alive infant.” Walz replaced the word “preserve” with the wording “to care for the infant who is born alive.” The law now does not require doctors take lifesaving measures – only ‘care.’ It now allows the baby outside the womb to be left to die, even if that baby could be saved.

In February 2018 New York Governor Cuomo enacted the ‘Reproductive Health Act (RHA).’ This new law allows a baby to be aborted up to his or her due date. New Yorkers have their taxes used to pay for abortions at any time throughout pregnancy. And not only that, if a baby is born alive, after a botched abortion, that child outside the womb can be murdered.

And finally, in October 2022 California Governor Gavin Newsom approved Bill AB 2223, known as the “Infanticide Bill”, which not only allows aborting unborn children all the way until birth but also killing babies after they are born. Attorney Matt McReynolds said “CA has crossed a red line by seeking to legitimize the killing of hours-old and even week-old infants. This is a degree of evil that the overwhelming majority of Americans, regardless of how they identify politically, cannot stomach.” No one fact-checked Harris’s lie.

Trump then asked Harris if she supports abortions up to the 9th month. She would not answer that question. But her record does. Harris voted against Senator Ben Sasse’s 2018 bill “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act”, which requires abortion practitioners to “ensure that the child born alive is immediately admitted to a hospital.” Walz apologized for accidentally voting for the bill, saying it was a mistake.

On her podcast ‘Relatable,’ Christian social influencer Allie Beth Stuckey gave her analysis on the debate: “Kamala Harris started the debate with former President Trump very awkwardly. It was obvious she was nervous. But she picked up steam not when she was talking about a ‘threat to Democracy’ or ‘Project 2025.’ It was when she started talking about abortion. It is what animates her. It is what she loves. It is what she has built her career upon all the way back to her time as District Attorney of San Francisco.

What was she getting at? Allie continued: “Harris does the bidding of Planned Parenthood. She supports abortion through all 9 months of pregnancy, for any reason, paid for by the taxpayer. Harris wants to force Americans to fund the slaughter of unborn babies by overturning the Hyde Amendment.”

To remind everyone, the Hyde Amendment is a 1980 law that prohibits using federal taxpayer dollars to pay for abortion, except to save the life of the woman, or if the pregnancy arises from incest or rape. Before the Hyde Amendment took effect, 300,000 abortions were performed annually using taxpayer dollars.

You cannot get a better example of this week’s verse than Harris and Walz’s attitude toward abortion: they are lying to the public to promote the wicked practice of shedding the innocent blood of babies.
