Reason #2 for Trump’s Decisive Victory: The Young, Working Class & Parental Vote

Isaiah 3:12  “O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err and destroy the way of your paths.”

Last week, we looked at the huge reversals in Hispanic and Black voting in the 2024 Presidential election, which caught the Democrats unaware and led to Trump’s decisive victory. But there were 3 more reversals causing the Democratics to soul-search for how they so completely misunderstood the American people:

1) Young voters, 2) working class voters, and 3) parents who voted against transgender activism.

Reversal #1: The Young Vote, the Economy and Immigration. CIRCLE (Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning and Engagement), a non-partisan research center on youth engagement, published data on how young people (ages 18-29) voted. Across the country, 42% of the 50 million young people eligible to vote in the 2024 election did. But in the battleground states (GA, MI, NV, NC, PA, and WI), the average turnout was much higher at 50%. Even more significant was that Trump won young voters in 17 states, which is a major increase from 2020 when he only won the youth vote in 7 states.

Why did young voters shift to Trump? According to CIRCLE, “40% of youth chose the economy and jobs as their top priority – by far the highest of any issue. They voted for Trump by a more than 22-point margin. Immigration was the third most-chosen issue among youth, and they voted for Trump by a 70-point margin.

Generation Z (born 1997-2012) has had trouble. They are a very indebted generation that has struggled to get their career and their income going. After the pandemic, they were the first to be let go, the last to come back to earning living-wage jobs. The economy may have been what resonated with young people.”

Reversal #2: The Working Class and the Economy. From NPR’s Nov. 8 article ‘Why Trump Won – 9 Takeaways’: “While Harris won a majority of women – including winning moms while Trump won dads – she only won 53% of women, down from Biden’s 57%. That was due to the gender divide by education among white voters. Harris won a higher share of white women with college degrees, but Trump won an even wider margin with women who did not go to college, and there were more of them who voted.

Add to that Trump’s massive margins with non-college white men and the fact that even white men with college degrees narrowly went for Trump, and Harris just simply could not make up that ground.

Democrats continue to struggle to win over working-class voters, a group that used to be solidly in their camp. Voters making $30,000-$100,000 a year voted for Trump. Harris won those making over $100,000, a group Republicans used to win. Trump won the working and middle class, while Democrats won over college-educated people who are financially better-off. That is a big shift in American politics.

Unless the Democrats figure out how to win those voters again, they will be a party strictly for the elites.”

Reversal #3: The Parental/Popular Vote and Protecting Our Children. From City Journal’s Nov. 15 article ‘A Democratic Reckoning on “Gender Identity”?’: “So powerful is transgender activism’s chokehold on the Democratics that Harris upheld her 2019 promise to fund sex change surgeries for illegal immigrants in prison with taxpayer dollars. Harris could not have touched more third rails had she tried.

1) From hiding children’s gender transitions in schools from their parents; 2) To letting boys compete in girls’ sports; 3) To replacing words “woman” and “breastfeeding” with “uterus haver” and “chest-feeding”; 4) To supporting sex “change” surgeries for children; 5) To appointing a Supreme Court justice who wouldn’t define “woman” because she is “not a biologist”; 6)To diverting millions of federal dollars to researchers who suppress scientific evidence that puberty blockers don’t work.

Bill Clinton, seeing the writing on the wall, urged Harris’s team to respond to the Trump campaign’s devastating attack ad – “Kamala is for they/them. President Trump is for you.” They ignored him. That proved costly. Polling by Harris’s leading super PAC found that ‘Trump’s ad that Kamala is for they/them swung the race 2.7 points in Mr. Trump’s favor after viewers watched it.’ This alone could have won Trump the popular vote, and possibly some swing states.”

In this week’s verse, God’s prophet Isaiah describes the corruption, oppression and cruelty of the rulers of the people that have led them away from Him and to their destruction. There is a clear analogy with the Democratic Party. But unlike Israel in Isaiah’s time, these 5 reversals show America has voted them out.
