Evidences 27-34: History’s only Man to meet Requirements of Messiah: Jesus Christ

Subject: Evidences 27-34: History’s only Man to meet Requirements of Messiah: Jesus Christ

A recent poll in America showed that over the past 10 years more people claim to be “non-religious”. I’ve also discovered, in my discussions, that fewer people actually read the Bible today. So if fewer people have even read it, it makes sense they wouldn’t know the exclusiveness of the substance of Christianity, Jesus Christ. The common question I get from skeptics is “History is full of people who’ve claimed to be God’s Messiah. Why believe Jesus Christ is THE Messiah and all the others fakes?” OK then, back to the evidence…last week, we ended with 26 pieces of hard facts pointing to Jesus Christ. Here’s 8 more that anyone claiming to be Messiah must meet, and in history no one else ever has, except Jesus Christ…. It’s the details of MESSIAH’s LINEAGE (from where He will arise).

1) Messiah must be a Hebrew God eliminates all other nations. Genesis 22:18 (“In your seed all the
nations of the earth shall be blessed…”) fulfilled in Jesus = Matthew 1:1 (“The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham”)
2) Messiah must descend from Isaac Abraham had 2 sons, Isaac and Ishmael. God eliminates 1/2 of
Abraham’s lineage by stating Messiah will be a descendant of Isaac, not Ishmael. Genesis 21:12 (“…in Isaac your seed shall be called”) fulfilled in Jesus = Matthew 1:2 (“Abraham begot Isaac”)
3) Messiah must descend from Jacob Isaac had 2 sons, Jacob and Esau. God eliminates 1/2 of
Isaac’s lineage by stating Messiah will descend by Jacob, not Esau. Genesis 35:10 (“Your name shall not be called Jacob anymore, but Israel shall be your name”) and Numbers 24:17 (“A Star shall come out of Jacob; a Scepter shall rise out of Israel”) fulfilled in Jesus = Matthew 1:2 (“Isaac begot Jacob”)
4) Messiah must descend from Judah Jacob had 12 sons. God eliminates 11/12 of Jacob’s lineage
by stating Messiah will descend by Judah. Genesis 49:10 (“The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes, and to Him shall be the obedience of the people”) fulfilled in Jesus = Matthew 1:2 (“Jacob begot Judah”) and Hebrews 7:14 (“…it is evident our Lord arose from Judah..”)
5) Messiah must descend from Jesse God eliminates all other households of Judah’s tribe, narrowing
it to one family, by stating Messiah will come from Jesse’s family. Isaiah 11:1,10 (“There shall come forth a Rod from the stock of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots… in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him, and His resting place shall be glorious.”) fulfilled in Jesus = Matthew 1:5 and Luke 3:32 (“…Obed begot Jesse… Jesus, the son of Jesse”).
6) Messiah must descend from David Jesse had 7 sons. God eliminates 6/7 of Jesse’s lineage by
stating Messiah will be a descendant of David. Jeremiah 23:5 (“…I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; a King shall reign and prosper, and execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely; now this is the name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.”) fulfilled in Jesus = Matthew 1:6 and Luke 3:31 (“…Jesse begot David the king… Jesus, the son of David”).
7) Messiah must be born in Bethlehem God eliminates all other cities in the world. Micah 5:2 (“But
you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One who is to be ruler in Israel, whose goings forth have been of old, from everlasting”) fulfilled in Jesus = John 7:42 (“Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, where David was?”).
8) Messiah must arrive before the Temple is destroyed God narrows Messiah’s arrival before 70AD,
when Titus destroys the temple. Daniel 9:26 (“..the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary…”) and Malachi 3:1 (“…the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple…”) fulfilled in Jesus = Mark 11:11 (“… Jesus went into Jerusalem and into the temple. So when He had looked around at all things…”) and Mark 13:2 (“Jesus said…’Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone shall be left upon another, that shall not be thrown down.’”)
